Angry Muslims are protesting against Christmas and New Year celebrations in Indonesia’s conservative Aceh province. About 70 protesters took part in the protest Friday at the governor’s office and at a hotel in the provincial capital, Banda Aceh.
FOX News (h/t Rina T) The protest came days after an influential Islamic clerics’ organization, the Ulema Consultative Assembly, issued an edict prohibiting Muslims in the city from offering Christmas wishes or celebrating New Year’s Eve. The protesters called on authorities to ban the celebrations, claiming they are prohibited by Islam.
Aceh at the northern tip of Sumatra is the only province in predominantly Muslim Indonesia that is allowed to implement a version of Islamic Sharia law.
Here is actual footage of one of the fatal beatings of members of a minority Muslim group, the peaceful Ahmadiyyas, whom mainstream Muslims do not consider to be Muslim enough.
Speaking of Indonesia, where Obama attended a madrassa school in his early years….an update on the story about the 3 Christian schoolgirls who were beheaded just for being Christians a few years ago. Apparently, their beheader has been released from jail.
Frontpage Magazine A Muslim serving a 19-year prison sentence for beheading three Christian schoolgirls has escaped while visiting his sick wife and is still at large, Indonesian police said Friday. National Police spokesman Brig. Gen. Boy Rafli Amar said Basri, 36, fled from his house in the Central Sulawesi town of Poso last week when a guard who escorted him from jail to the home left him unguarded for several hours.
Basri should have received the death penalty for the murder of 3 Christian schoolgirls. The three girls, Theresia Morangke and Yarni Sambue, both 15, and 17-year-old Alfita Poliwo, had their heads cut off. One of the heads was placed in a bag along on the steps of a church along with a note reading, “We will murder 100 more Christian teenagers and their heads will be presented as presents.”
What did he mean by presents? Basri and his fellow Muslims were celebrating the end of the Islamic Ramadan. It’s an event that Obama annually commemorates at the White House, but Basri really got into the spirit of the season.
Basri said he and two others killed the girls and took their heads to the group’s headquarters as a “gift” to mark the end of the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan.
The bodies, dressed in school uniform, were left by the roadside near the execution site, but the heads were carried in a backpack.
Basri claimed he was sorry “not just from my mouth but from deep in my heart.” But he nevertheless joked and laughed as he described how it took two swipes of his machete to lop the head off one of the girls.
Basri, whom the Indonesian authorities for all intents and purposes set free, received weapons training from Al Qaeda’s affiliate Jemaah Islamiyah. And he had confessed to beheading one of the girls personally. Despite all this Basri only received a comparatively short jail term. It’s not that Indonesia doesn’t have the death penalty or doesn’t use it as casually as most Muslim countries do.

The Australian THREE Christian high school girls were beheaded as a Ramadan “trophy” by Indonesian militants who conceived the idea after a visit to Philippines jihadists.
The girls’ severed heads were dumped in plastic bags in their village in Indonesia’s strife-torn Central Sulawesi province, along with a handwritten note threatening more such attacks.
The note read: “Wanted: 100 more Christian heads, teenaged or adult, male or female; blood shall be answered with blood, soul with soul, head with head.”
One of the Christian girls who was slashed with a machete managed to run away.
One of the be headers, Hasanuddin, allegedly returned from a visit to members of Philippines Islamist group the Moro Islamic Liberation Front with tales of how that organisation regularly staged bombings to coincide with Lebaran, the festival that ends the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. He decided that beheading Christians could qualify as an act of Muslim charity.
